Ron Holland entered the G League season as the No. 1 overall pick. While the Ignite star fluctuates between the 9-10 range in consecutive mocks, he’ll be a high-lottery pick with a solid floor and potentially significant looks, depending on what situation he ends up in.

“Holland is the type of player that is hard for me to see as your one ball manager,” an NBA official told HoopsHype. “I think he will have to play both of them in many games. If so, you risk becoming a player like him Dejounte Murray, but strong, when you have to play with another very talented young player. If that is the case, it will be difficult for you to change drastically and physically. I think he’s trying. You have a strong mind. I don’t know, other than being a transition player, whether he’s going to be a halfcourt player yet. Maybe you improve to do something, and the shooting becomes real. If I were him, I would go to the team to protect his hip and see where it goes.”

Holland is still one of the most versatile players on the roster who can play two, three, or small balls. He’s at his best offensively downhill, has a high motor, and is always willing to guard the opponent’s leading scorer. His swing skill will be the three-point shot.

“Ron can come down whenever he wants,” his teammate Izan Almansa he told HoopsHype at the G League Showcase. “He can change the game downhill. He can shoot, and he hustles. He plays defense. He knows how to do a lot and he does a little bit of everything.”

Holland was also willing to share that fictional lottery with others Matas Buzelis choosing to play for Ignite eventually after committing to Texas.

“Ron is a dog,” Buzelis told HoopsHype at the G League Showcase. β€œHe is aggressive and will never back down from anyone. He has a lot of talent, but he brings his teammates together at the same time.”
