3 clubs are in contact with Crystal Palace for Michael Olise’s deal

Chelsea, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have all made contact with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign Michael Olise, reports have revealed.

As 90 min confirmed earlier in the week, Olise’s contract includes a complex release clause worth £60m-£65m, the terms of which require clubs to agree with Palace before contacting Olise to discuss terms.

Chelsea were accused of not complying with such a demand last year when they thought they had completed a deal for Olise – the Blues insist they did not make an illegal move – but The Daily Mirror were first to reveal that official contact has now been made between Chelsea and Palace regarding a transfer this summer.

Enzo Maresca’s side have officially requested permission to speak to Olise after indicating they are willing to trigger his release clause.

Athletic adding that both Bayern and Newcastle have contacted Palace to try and negotiate Olise.

If Palace are satisfied with the terms offered, they will give the clubs permission to talk to Olise, who will decide whether to negotiate an exit or commit his future to the Eagles.

Olise is expected to take her time and explore all the options available to her, rather than simply accepting the first offer that comes her way. Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested but have yet to make it official.

Chelsea are hoping to land Olise last summer, while also boasting the unique advantage of having the Frenchman’s younger brother Richard on the academy books, where Olise spent time earlier in his career.

Olise is regarded as a vital asset to Maresca, whose tactical plan gives real importance to the wings.
