T20 World Cup 2024: Netizens express uneasiness as India vs Pakistan clash on the field between NED vs SA
Despite the ICC’s assurance, subsequent matches played at the venue showed little improvement in pitch conditions. For example, while Canada managed to score a respectable 137 points against Ireland, the Irish team struggled in the chase and only managed 125, reflecting the challenges posed by the pitch. In the recent match in New York, the South African bowlers dominated, restricting the Netherlands to just 103 runs. However, South Africa again faced difficulties in the chase, losing six wickets before reaching the target, which they only managed to achieve on penalties.
India has experience in these challenging venues, having played two matches, including a warm-up, at the venue. Despite their familiarity, both pitches proved challenging for the batsmen. On the other hand, Pakistan, who faced defeat against USA, may face similar challenges due to unexpected bounce and unevenness, adding complexity to the much-anticipated match against India.

Pitch analysis and previous matches
Based on a report from ESPNcricinfo, Pitch No. 4 has been the battlefield of three games so far: the warm-up game in between Bangladesh and India on June 1, followed by a clash between India and Ireland on June 5, and meeting in between Canada and Ireland on June 7. On June 3, Pitch No. 1 held a match between South Africa and Sri Lanka. Notably, Pitch No. 2 was used in the match between the Netherlands and South Africa on June 8. Although Pitch No. 2 is considered to be very similar compared to others, the fast bowlers still dominate the game.
Fan anxiety before IND vs PAK clash
Cricket fans from both sides expressed concern before the match about the stadium that might be used for such a tough game. Heavy surface wear can cause low score issues, which can have a significant impact on game dynamics.
Here’s how Twitter responded:
Whoosh. SA secured a 4-wicket win against the Netherlands, but it was a tough game. Now #India you will face each other #Pakistan this minute tomorrow. It will be fun. #INDvsPAK #PAKvsIND#ICCWorldT20 https://t.co/pTcEtdQFOu

Our bowlers who have been watching their batting highlights, need to look at the line and length of the NED bowlers. After all, they will be playing at the same stadium tomorrowโฆ.#INDvsPAK

Bw reports suggest that India-Pakistan is happening at the same place in 24 hours. #T20WorldCup #IndvsPak #NEDvSA

Jokes apart Pakistan will pray that the pitch stays the same or gets worse.
On a proper T20 pitch they are no match for India but this kind of wicket, it becomes a lottery and it can be anyone’s day.#IndvsPak https://t.co/igK3TQpp3n– Raazi (@Crick_logist) June 8, 2024
Why is the same pitch used for 2 games in a 24 hour period. For Marqee game like #INDvsPAK better pitch is needed.

India and Pakistan were going to play on the same field. Such platforms reduce the gap between groups.

so apparently the Pakistan team is completely oblivious to the pitch conditions and India have already started their warm-up matches ๐

The Indian team will play against Pakistan today in Nassau. Toss will play a big role there. The pitch will test the batsmen’s skills. #INDvsPAK

Given how much better India are than Pakistan I was hoping to get a good night’s sleep before tomorrow’s game, but the pitch conditions in New York will probably keep me waiting.
