T20 World Cup 2024: Netizens express uneasiness as India vs Pakistan clash on the field between NED vs SA

Despite the ICC’s assurance, subsequent matches played at the venue showed little improvement in pitch conditions. For example, while Canada managed to score a respectable 137 points against Ireland, the Irish team struggled in the chase and only managed 125, reflecting the challenges posed by the pitch. In the recent match in New York, the South African bowlers dominated, restricting the Netherlands to just 103 runs. However, South Africa again faced difficulties in the chase, losing six wickets before reaching the target, which they only managed to achieve on penalties.

India has experience in these challenging venues, having played two matches, including a warm-up, at the venue. Despite their familiarity, both pitches proved challenging for the batsmen. On the other hand, Pakistan, who faced defeat against USA, may face similar challenges due to unexpected bounce and unevenness, adding complexity to the much-anticipated match against India.

Pitch analysis and previous matches

Based on a report from ESPNcricinfo, Pitch No. 4 has been the battlefield of three games so far: the warm-up game in between Bangladesh and India on June 1, followed by a clash between India and Ireland on June 5, and meeting in between Canada and Ireland on June 7. On June 3, Pitch No. 1 held a match between South Africa and Sri Lanka. Notably, Pitch No. 2 was used in the match between the Netherlands and South Africa on June 8. Although Pitch No. 2 is considered to be very similar compared to others, the fast bowlers still dominate the game.

Fan anxiety before IND vs PAK clash

Cricket fans from both sides expressed concern before the match about the stadium that might be used for such a tough game. Heavy surface wear can cause low score issues, which can have a significant impact on game dynamics.
