Seattle Kraken, Montreal, and Ehlers
Seattle Kraken Search Offensive Development
Mike Benton of the Kraken Radio Network: Now, an offensive upgrade is much needed for the Seattle Kraken. That is not a secret. How they will seek these improvements is the question. Who should they follow?
Next, there should be a list. Still, the guesswork is on players like Martin Necas and Nikolaj Ehlers for starters. After that, Anthony Duclair made a lot of sense. He has been linked to Seattle before. Max Domi has been on the radar and even Teuvo Teravainen in the background.
After that, the pipe dreams of the likes of Mitch Marner, Jake Guentzel, and even Jake DeBrusk grew. Things can happen in the NHL but in reality, who could end up going to Seattle and what might happen are two very different things.
NHL Rumors: Looking for Martin Necas
Montreal Canadiens and Balance
Marco D’Amico of Montreal Hockey NOW: The Montreal Canadiens want to be more competitive. Now, they just have to balance this with having less program flexibility. Well, these things are not easy.
Montreal has options available. For one, they can sell more to certain veterans. Joel Armia, Christian Dvorak, and David Savard were previously targeted by other teams.
Going for the quality price on the Martin Necas deal makes sense here as well. Think Montreal will have a lot of picks (24) over the next few seasons. One can open up a space while getting a top six forward upgrade. Necas remains young enough to be a good center for the future.
Also, there is a component of taking care of those veteran decisions and Laval’s help. Montreal needs a few AHL vets, especially in the middle position. It can increase that number of lists but this is necessary.
So, watching to see what Montreal brings and keeps the thread moving together will be very interesting.
More about Nikolaj Ehlers…
David Pagnotta of the Fourth Season: It’s no secret that Nikolaj Ehlers wanted a change of scenery for some time. The Rick Bowness era was not kind to Ehlers who was sat out for reasons that were often not explained. The suppression of his talent leads to an inevitable decision.
NHL Rumors: Montreal And Draft Moves
Now, would teams like Montreal take a shot at Ehlers? Yes, Montreal needs offensive talent. If Winnipeg were to extend the winger, would the Canadiens get a sign-and-trade situation? If a few draft picks go the other way, that’s possible. Perhaps, the Seattle Kraken is one.
