Golf Business News – Unleash Your Drive campaign reaches 800 schools

The Golf Foundation has revealed that its Unleash Your Drive in Schools campaign has been delivered to over 24,000 primary school students in 800 schools.

Funding from partners and individual donations has helped the Unleash Your Drive in Schools campaign to reach a wider audience, and has been fully funded in 60 schools so far by 2024. The latest ‘Play in May’ campaign saw more than £15,000 raised from golfers who entered monthly competitions from September or took lessons in May to support young people’s mental wellbeing.

In total, more than 800 schools have registered an interest in the Unleash Your Drive in Schools program so far, meaning more than 24,000 young people could receive valuable mental fitness training through an introduction to golf.

While every school can get a package of equipment and supplies at a greatly reduced price thanks to a partnership with equipment supplier Golfway, the Golf Foundation wants to provide the program as a fully funded gift to those who need it most – money. suggested throughout the program help support this directly.

Unleash Your Drive in Schools, launched in September 2023, is led by Golf Association President Nick Dougherty, and aims to change the state of mental health in elementary schools by introducing a specially created mental fitness golf program. The six-week program can be delivered by teachers through digital resources, and uses specially adapted Golfway tools to teach fun and engaging games with mental fitness tools embedded throughout, to prepare students for life in and out of the classroom.

Early research has shown a 19% increase in mental well-being among those who have participated in the program, with concentration, self-confidence, emotional control and determination all areas seeing improvement.

“We are thrilled with the impact and support Play in May has added to our program,” said Brendon Pyle, CEO of the Golf Foundation. “Our mental health program continues to have an impact on schools, and the more money we can bring in, the more we can support schools without financial problems. The support from all of our partners and Nick Dougherty and Tommy Fleetwood has helped us reach a new audience this year, and it’s great to see the golf community get behind our campaign and play golf to support what we’re doing.”
