Leicester are eyeing Tottenham defender Joe Rodon

Leicester City are interested in signing Tottenham defender Joe Rodon this summer, according to reports.

The Foxes won promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship last season, but lost manager Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.

This team is reported to be about to finalize the appointment of Graham Potter as its new manager, and they are now able to strengthen preparations for the new season.

Leicester are eyeing Rodon

Leicester’s transfer restrictions have been lifted by the Premier League and they can now strengthen the squad as they look to ensure they stay in the top flight next season.

Leicester Foxes have reported that the club is looking to move Rodon, who has become a stopper at Tottenham.

Leeds, Ipswich and Southampton are also interested in the Wales international who has one year left on his contract, and is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans in north London.

Rodon was considered one of the best defenders in the Championship last season.

The Foxes currently have Wout Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, Conor Coady and Harry Souttar among their centre-back options, but Coady is expected to leave the club, which will free up space at the club to sign Rodon.

Rodon joined Spurs from Championship side Swansea in 2020 and has had loan spells at Stade Rennes in France and Leeds, where he made 50 appearances last season, and was part of the team that finished third and lost in the play-off final.

The 26-year-old has 45 caps for Wales and has made just 24 appearances for Spurs in four seasons.

Leicester have already extended Jamie Vardy’s contract by another year, and his experience and goalscoring ability could be crucial in ensuring the Foxes don’t go straight back into the Championship.
