Chelsea confirm the signing of Estevao Willian from Palmeiras

Chelsea have announced they have reached an agreement to sign 17-year-old Estevao Willian from Palmeiras next summer.

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with many of Europe’s top clubs even before he has made his debut, with Barcelona being another major club in the race to sign him until the end.

But Chelsea have managed to wrap up a deal for Estevao, who will join the club after turning 18 next year.

The statement reads: “Chelsea Football Club has agreed a deal to sign young striker Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, with the Brazilian player officially joining Chelsea next summer.”

“The 17-year-old has established a strong reputation in South America as one of the most exciting talents due to his ability to play and run electric, causing many defensive problems during his senior football career.

“Estevao has played ten times for Palmeiras of Brazil in Serie A, contributing two goals and two assists, and also found the net in the Copa Libertadores and Copa do Brasil.

“The exciting striker, who joins Brazilians Andrey Santos, David Washington and Angelo Gabriel at Stamford Bridge, has played for his national team at youth level.”

Estevao is regarded as one of the best young players in world football and broke through at Palmeiras at the same time as Endrick, who will join Real Madrid this summer.

Chelsea’s announcement of Estevao’s signing came less than 24 hours after news broke that they had missed out on Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, who is set to join Bayern Munich instead.
