Exclusive: Man City match West Ham star and other midfielder transfer targets, expert says
Manchester City are keen to strengthen their midfield as a priority this summer transfer window, with West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta one of the top names on their list, but not the only one.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano in a monologue CaughtOffside in his latest Daily Briefing column to discuss what we can expect to see from Man City in the summer market.
It looks like Paqueta is a name to watch out for, with the Brazil international looking to be the most impressive in his time at the London Stadium so far, and looks like he could fit in well at an even bigger club.
Despite struggling at a young age at AC Milan early in his career, Paqueta has really turned things around, shining at Lyon to move to West Ham, where he is now showing what he can bring to the Premier League level.
Paqueta’s transfer looks like a smart move for Man City
With last summer’s defenders Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes not really working, it makes sense to go for someone like Paqueta, who looks like he could be better in that area of the pitch.
Discussing City’s interest in the 26-year-old Hammers ace, Romano said: “Manchester City are still favorites for the title at the moment, and they also have an FA Cup final against rivals Manchester United to look forward to.” As ever, the standards have been really high for City this season, so how do they improve on this summer’s squad?
“My current understanding is that midfield is going to be a key area for me to improve in the summer for Manchester City, that’s the plan. They still like West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta, but he is not the only name on the list.”
