It is reported that the Voluntary Anti Doping Association (VADA) found that Ryan Garcia tested positive for the banned substance Otariine. According to Dan Rafael, who broke the news, the two tests – both showing a Performance Enhancing Drug in Garcia’s system – were collected on April 19, the day before Garcia’s shock victory over Devin Haney, and after Haney’s fight in April. 20.
National Library of Medicine writes that Otariine “is used as an agent that improves the functioning of the body.” In accordance with American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy the drug is “naturally effective in building fast muscles it has given the bodybuilding industry a bad reputation. Haney’s father, Bill, is reportedly not too happy about this latest incident. “He’s trying to hurt my kid,” Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix quoted the elder Haney as saying. “We played well. For his part, Garcia has declared his innocence. “Everyone knows that I am not lying,” he said in a social media post. “What shall I say? Why didn’t they come out with this before the fight if they got it earlier? Why would they let me into the ring as a cheater?”
“I don’t even know where to get steroids,” he added. “I don’t take supplements anymore.”
