Euro 2024: Croatia v Italy

Game preview

Defending champions Italy need a point against Croatia in Leipzig to secure a place in the Last 16 of Euro 2024.

Luciano Spalletti’s side won their first Group B match – against Albania – but went down 1-0 to Spain in a better-than-expected defeat. Spalletti will want the best from his team when they face a Croatia side who have struggled to get to Germany.

Ignored by Spain, they were on the verge of beating Albania in Hamburg until Klaus Gjasula’s 95th minute equalizer was conceded. They have to win to have any chance of going through.

Croatia’s Mario Pasalic told UEFA.com: “We are at our best when it is very difficult. We have proven many times that this saying is accurate. Many of us have played big games, for the national team and in our clubs. We expect a similar game against Italy and I hope we will prove this slogan correct on Monday. “
