England vs Slovenia squad news: Trent Alexander-Arnold is out

England face Slovenia on Tuesday night in a crucial Group C match at the RheinEnergieStadion in Koln as the Three Lions look to finish top of their group.

A win for Gareth Southgate’s men will see them finish in first place which will make it easier for them to reach the final. However, England have struggled in their opening two matches and victory over Slovenia is not guaranteed.

A draw could be enough for the Three Lions to secure first place but that would require Denmark and Serbia to also share the points.

The worst case scenario for England would be a loss to Slovenia and the Danes getting three points. That would see them finish third, making life difficult in the Round of 16.

Southgate’s teams in Germany have been criticized so far by fans and pundits, so the 53-year-old made one change with Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher replacing Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Confirmed by England from 11

As for Slovenia, Matjaz Kek’s side will be confident of a result against an underperforming England side and arrive in Koln knowing that a win will see them into the Round of 16 in a good place.

Slovenia are unbeaten so far at Euro 2024, drawing both of their opening games 1-1 against Serbia and Denmark.

England will need to keep tabs on dangerous Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, who was linked with the Premier League before deciding to stay in Germany for the 2024/25 campaign.

Kek did not make any changes to his team during their 1-1 draw with Serbia as he hopes it will be enough to beat England on Tuesday night.

Slovenia confirmed from the 11th
