Anthony Joshua Reacts To Tyson Fury’s Loss To Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua is pleased with former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s recent loss to Oleksandr Usyk on May 18.

Joshua does not like the way Fury insults his opponents and other fighters with his insults, treating them as if they are beneath him.

AJ feels like he’s beating them. When he attacked one of the good guys, he was exposed. He has now lost his record and will likely lose his December 21 rematch against Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs).

Joshua’s Relief from Fury’s Defeat

“I’m glad Fury is not the undisputed champion,” Joshua said via talkSport. “I always said you were an idiot; he is very disrespectful. He has to step on people to feel good.”

Joshua fails to mention that Fury was never as good as the fans thought. The best name on Fury’s career record is Wladimir Klitschko, and he was 39 years and eight months old when that fight took place on November 28, 2015.

Imagine a 35-year-old Fury fighting a top-10 ranked 39-year-old in four years. It won’t be a good picture if it’s a pretty person from afar.

Fury’s Trash Talk and Self-Help Motives

“The way he despised Usyk, ‘rabbit’ this and ‘middleweight’ that. It’s not good for sports,” said Joshua.

I always thought Fury was doing it for himself and not thinking about anyone else helping the sport. What he’s doing is good for him, but it could drag down the sport, especially if other fighters copy his behavior to their opponents.

It’s possible that Fury’s trash talking is his way of selling the fight between himself and his rivals by playing the villain. But he goes beyond that, and listening to him humiliate his opponents is difficult.

“Anger will trample you and make you look like a guy who just left the bar. Then he goes and is beaten; he deserves it,” said Joshua.

If Joshua hates Fury so much, why does he want to fight him so badly? You’d think AJ would want nothing to do with him, given his dislike of this aging, seemingly out-of-character fight.

Joshua Doubts Fury’s Chances of Reuniting with Usyk

Yesterday, when Fury told Turki Alalshikh that he would do the job in his rematch with Usyk, Joshua said, “No, he wants to.”

Joshua doesn’t think Fury will win his rematch with WBA/WBC/WBO champion Usyk, meaning Tyson will go into the fight on a losing streak. Why does Joshua want to fight Fury then?
