Bayern Munich are pushing hard for Xavi Simons

Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer transfer market as Mikel Arteta looks to land one or two players that will help them push forward in the Premier League title race.

Man City have been the team to beat for the last few seasons, with only a long-awaited Liverpool title win in 2020 preventing Pep Guardiola’s swashbucklers from winning the English Premier League’s best seven-in-a-row.

Their current run of four titles in a row is an all-time record, but Arteta and his team will want to ensure they take it to five.

To be able to do that, they need to get the players the manager is asking for, so the Spaniard will be disappointed to lose one of the Gunners’ biggest summer targets.

Arsenal want Xavi Simons but Bayern are busy

According to Just Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Netherlands midfielder Xavi Simons, who scored one of the best goals of Euro 2024 in the semi-final against England, is still wanted by the North Londoners.

However, Sky Sports reports that Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the 21-year-old, who spent last season in the Bundesliga on loan at RB Leipzig.

It seems clear that Simons will not stay at PSG so the race is still wide open for now.

Arsenal’s playing style would certainly suit the player, although Vincent Kompany is also known to be a fan of the attacking style of the front foot, so the player may prefer to be part of the Belgian’s growing project in Bavaria.

While Simons has yet to put it on paper, Arsenal are in the clear, but will need to move quickly to stop Bayern.
