Who is the USWNT’s youngest player?
The USWNT’s final 18-man squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics is full of experience and freshmen as the Stars and Stripes look for a fifth gold medal.
Just a few weeks after the USMNT’s disappointing exit from Copa America 2024, the USWNT will travel to France and compete in one of the biggest stages in the world. Emma Hayes has a trophy cabinet full of silverware from her time at Chelsea, but the manager is hoping to add some gold this summer.
Despite the many players who have brought such success to the USWNT, including Alex Morgan, Hayes will rely on the next generation to bring international glory to the USA.

The USWNT’s youngest player is Lily Yohannes. The midfielder made her USWNT debut against South Korea on June 4 at just 16 years old, and even celebrated her record night with a goal. The Ajax player is also the youngest player to ever start in a Women’s Champions League match.
With just one international game to her name, Yohannes did not make the USWNT Paris 2024 Olympic roster.
The youngest USWNT player at the Paris 2024 Olympics is Jaedyn Shaw. Born on November 20, 2004, the striker is 19 years old. However, despite her youth, Shaw already has 14 games for the USWNT since her debut on October 26, 2023.
In such a short time, Shaw has recorded seven goals and one assist. She was also named the 2022 U.S. Soccer Young Player of the Year and won the Golden Ball at the 2019 CONCACAF Girls Under-15 Championship.
Mia Hamm still holds the record for the youngest USWNT player ever. The two-time Women’s World Cup winner made her debut at the age of 15 in 1987, and in the three decades since then, no one has played for the Stars and Stripes at such a young age.
Hamm scored 158 international goals during her illustrious career, and holds the USWNT record for most assists with 144.
