After Argentina’s impressive performance against Ecuador, the reigning champions look to return to form in the semi-finals thanks to the additions of Julian Alvarez and Angel Di Maria to the starting XI. Alvarez scored the winner to advance La Albiceleste to the Copa America 2024 final, while Lionel Messi scored his first goal of the competition.
Lionel Scaloni is not afraid to make changes to his list before the final, especially since all the players are there, but it is difficult to resist the attackers who won the Copa America and the World Cup.
Argentina predicted to face Colombia (4-3-3): E. Martinez; Molina, Romero, Li. Martinez, Tagliafico; De Paul, Fernandez, Mac Allister; Di Maria, Messi, Alvarez
Nestor Lorenzo will have to make changes to his starting team for Colombia’s game against Argentina. Daniel Munoz was sent off against Uruguay in the 45th minute, leading to his suspension from the 2024 Copa America final.
Richard Rios was taken off the field after injuring his leg in the second half of the semi-final, and the midfielder’s status ahead of Sunday’s game is in doubt.
Colombia predicted to face Argentina (4-2-3-1): Vargas; S. Arias, Sanchez, Cuesta, Mojica; Uribe, Lerma; J. Arias, Rodriguez, Diaz; Córdoba
The last team to beat Colombia is Argentina, and the reigning champions have all the pieces needed to do it again. No matter how dangerous Nestor Lorenzo’s side have looked this summer, they will be without Daniel Munoz, a key player in their backline, against one of the greatest players of all time.
It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Lionel Messi lifting Argentina’s record-breaking 16th Copa America trophy on July 14.
Prediction: Argentina 2-1 Colombia
