BCCI has decided to release INR 1 crore for the treatment of former batsman Anshuman Gaekwad, who is suffering from blood cancer at a medical center in London.

“Mr Jay Shah has directed the BCCI to release INR 1 crore immediately to provide relief to India’s veteran cricketer, Mr Anshuman Gaekwad, who is suffering from cancer,” the BCCI council said in a statement.

“Shah has spoken to Mr Gaekwad’s family to assess the situation and extend support,” the statement continued. “The board stands with Gaekwad’s family at this difficult time and will do whatever is necessary for Mr. Gaekwad’s speedy recovery.

“The BCCI will continue to monitor Mr Gaekwad’s progress and is hopeful that he will excel at this stage.”
