Without Lionel Messi sidelined through injury, Argentina needed other players to step up, and Tottenham Hotspurs’ Giovani Lo Celso rose to the occasion to produce a goal-scoring opportunity in extra time.

After 90 scoreless minutes, the 2024 Copa America final went to extra time. The first half of that period was also goalless, but it was Lo Celso who assisted Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez’s goal in the second half of extra time.
