Currently, Ravichandran Ashwin lit up TNPL 2024 with a fiery innings of The Dindigul Dragons against Chepauk Super Gillies in a rain-affected match in Coimbatore on Sunday, July 14. Ashwin, who opened the batting for Dindigul, unleashed his attacking power, scoring 45 runs in just 20 balls.

His innings was a masterclass in powerful batting, which included four sixes and three boundaries. Although the Dragons got off to a poor start, with the team reduced to 3 for 3 in the second over, Ashwin attacked brilliantly. His fearless approach and powerful batting turned the tables, allowing Dindigul to post a competitive total of 64 for 6 in a contest of seven overs each.

Ashwin’s knock came to nothing as Dindigul Dragons lost to Chepauk Super Gillies

Despite Ashwin’s heroics, Dindigul Dragons could not defend their total. Chepauk Super Gillies chased down the target in just 4.5 overs, led by an unbeaten partnership between Narayan Jagadeesan (32 off 14) and Father Aparajith (31 out of 14).

The Dragons bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, leading to a quick and big victory for the Super Gillies. Notably, Ashwin’s previous efforts in this tournament did not yield significant scores, with only 5 and 6 runs against Trichy and Salem, respectively. However, his blitzkrieg of 45 runs in this match highlighted his ability as a dynamic opener, even if it failed to secure his side a victory.
