Man City have completed the £33.7m transfer of Savinho

Manchester City have made 20-year-old Brazilian defender Savinho their first summer signing to transfer window as they look to defend their Premier League title again in 2024/25.

A €40m (£33.7m) deal has been reached with French club Troyes, a member of the wider City Football Group (CFG) family. Savinho has agreed a five-year contract until 2029 and will wear the number 26 shirt last occupied by Riyad Mahrez.

Savinho came to the fore last season on loan at Girona as the small Catalan giants, another CFG club, finished third in La Liga to qualify for the Champions League.

“I am very happy to join Manchester City, Premier League champions and Club World Cup winners. Everyone knows they are the best team in the world right now, so being here makes me very happy,” explained the player.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to work under Pep Guardiola, one of the greatest coaches of all time, and someone I know will help me improve a lot.

“I’ve had an amazing time in Spain and I’m looking forward to the new challenge of playing in the Premier League alongside the best players in the world. I can’t wait to meet the fans and my new team-mates. And I hope you’ll be part of bringing more success to City.”

Director of football Txiki Begiristain added: “Savinho is a very exciting player and I think City fans will be really happy to see him. What he achieved last season at Girona was amazing and he is now a full-time player for the Brazilian national team.

“He has a big role to play for Manchester City this season and beyond. We have full confidence in his ability. He’s still young and has the potential to get even better, and everyone knows Pep is the best at helping players develop, but he’s already shown his great quality and technical ability and he’s an exciting addition.” in our attack zone.”
