Golf Business News – Schauffele doubles major points with Open Championship success
Global Edition
Xander Schauffele claimed his second medal of 2024 when he won the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon by two shots after closing in a six-under par 65.
In addition to his PGA Championship win, the 30-year-old completed his sweep of the American golfers’ major titles in 2024, and became the first player since Brooks Koepka in 2018 to win two majors in the same year.
Speaking after lifting the Claret Jug, Schauffele said: “I’ve always wanted to win the Open Championship. Those 18 climbs are a lot of fun, with yellow scoreboards and fans and handstands. It is truly one of the best feelings I have ever had in my life. It took me forever to win one big one, so to have two now is something else.”
Schauffele is a Callaway employee and has used 12 brand clubs to win the field at Royal Troon, including the Paradym Ai Smoke driver and the Chrome Tour ball, which he has used since the season opener in Hawaii, earning 12 top-10 finishes in 2024.
Schauffele has added over 4mph of ball speed off the tee with this driver/ball combination and is averaging 305 yards with his 183mph driver this season. He is second on the PGA Tour this year in Strokes Gained: Total and third in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
Schauffele’s bag also includes the 52° Callaway Opus Wedge, which officially launched in stores this week.
