Yorke sends the Ten Hag warning of a new chapter for Sancho

The former striker of Manchester United, Dwight Yorke, has issued a warning to coach Erik ten Hag regarding the recovery of defender Jadon Sancho.

Sancho has spent the last six months on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he reached the Champions League final but lost to Real Madrid at Wembley.

His first exit from the club was prompted by a public spat with the manager, who said after the game that Sancho was unfit to play.

The England player responded on social media denying the allegations that led to Sancho being forced to train alone.

He impressed back in Germany and has since been welcomed back to Carrington with open arms by Ten Hag, but not everyone approves of the Dutchman’s decision.

Yorke believes there could be more trouble between the pair but admits Sancho is stuck at Manchester United because of his high wages.

Speaking to Boyle Sports, he said: “It’s a strange situation with Jadon Sancho and I don’t think any team expects him to be in it.”

โ€œTen Hag didn’t set out to win the FA Cup, but they did. Jadon Sancho did not expect Ten Hag to win, which would have led to the manager’s dismissal and his return.

“But Sancho has three more years left on his contract and is one of the highest paid players.

“There are very few clubs in the world that will be able to pay his salary, so he is not going anywhere and that has caused a problem.

โ€œHow do you fix this? Have a one-on-one conversation and try to resolve all disagreements.

“The problem is if they don’t start well and lose in football matches. I think fingers will start pointing again.

“It’s a situation that you have to look at and everything is going well and it’s good to try to fix it but if things don’t go well these things could blow up in the manager’s face.”

Sancho was a Manchester United prospect in pre-season and will fly to the US for their pre-season tour.

If he can’t secure another move away from Old Trafford, the former Manchester City academy product will be hoping to feature regularly in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
