Reggie Jackson to join Philadelphia 76ers – Basketball Insiders

The Philadelphia 76ers aren’t done making moves this offseason. The team will add guard, Reggie Jackson, after clearing waivers. Jackson was traded to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the Denver Nuggets’ salary cap this offseason. It will be the second time Jackson has been unseated by Charlotte. However, he will also go to the opponent. The veteran scorer won a title with the Nuggets back in the 2023 campaign after signing him in the buyout after the NBA Trade Deadline. It will be interesting to see how Jackson fits in with this new Philadelphia 76ers squad.

Reggie Jackson’s career

Although he is a playmaker, Reggie Jackson has carved out a great career as a role player. He is best known for his time with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, he had good moments in every position where he played significant minutes. Throughout Jackson’s 13-year career, he averaged 12.6 points, 4.2 assists per game, and an effective field goal percentage of 48.4 percent. He has been a consistent shooter. That being said, he is still a player who can get hot and score in bunches.

He was a key player during his time with the Clippers. During his tenure in Los Angeles, Jackson averaged 12.8 points, 3.8 assists per game, and shot 36.4 percent from three-point range. He did this when he used to come off the bench. Considering all of this, it makes sense why the 76ers are taking a chance on him even though his best days are behind him. Still, fit is a question, and it remains to be seen whether he will play a significant role.

The Mysterious Transactions of Philadelphia

Contrary to what some believe, the 76ers lack size. Besides their big men especially in Joel Embiid and Andre Drummond, their biggest player is the recently acquired Paul George. Jackson will not solve this problem considering that he is only six feet. On top of that, the 76ers have great guards that already include Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry, and Eric Gordon. Even if Reggie Jackson plays meaningful minutes, the team still needs a few more wings to help on the perimeter. All in all, this could be a lateral move for the Philadelphia 76ers. Still, the experience Jackson brings to the locker room could be valuable.
