The Lakers’ games have been quite the circus in the Summer League, thanks to Bronny James’ huge amount of attention every night.
Now that Summer League is over, one of Bronny’s Summer League teammates has talked about the negative fallout from everything about Bronny.
“I mean, he was treated as a different person, not like the rest of us, and that’s really annoying because we didn’t feel the chemistry in this group of players,” an unidentified Laker told the US Sun.
The same player also said that Bronny’s focus meant he didn’t get a fair chance to show his game.
“I ended up feeling sad because I have never been put in a very good situation, or included in some games or game shows because they want Bronny to show his skills and stand out,” he said.
“If you talk to any other player who has been a part of the California Classic and Summer League rosters, most of them will tell you the same thing. The tension was palpable, and it’s great that we were all thinking about the end of Summer League so we could get out of here and focus on our next step in our careers. “
The US Sun article also quoted a “Lakers insider”, backing up the player’s claim.
“That kind of tension did not help the group of players to build chemistry,” they told this newspaper, while insisting that they have nothing against Bronny.
“And you felt like there was no unity [between] this group of boys as Bronny was the main guy and others felt that it was wrong, that he deserved that.”
After a rough start to the tournament, Bronny improved to finish with 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 assist per game in Vegas.
