England legend Stuart Broad warns young bowler Shoaib Bashir for Ashes 2025 in Australia

Shoaib Bashir, a young and promising spin bowler, has grabbed the attention of cricket experts with his exceptional skills. His ability to shift and push the field, combined with his brilliant variation, makes him a formidable opponent for the batsmen. Despite his youth, Bashir has shown remarkable maturity, always taking important wickets and earning full credit.

Stellar performance against West Indies

In the recently concluded Test series against West Indies, Bashir showed his bowling ability. The off-spinner claimed nine wickets in three Tests, averaging 27.22. His best performance came in the third and final Test, where he took five wickets. While Bashir’s success in domestic conditions is impressive, the real challenge lies ahead in the next Ashes series in Australia.

Stuart Broad warns Shoaib Bashir for Ashes 2025

Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad has issued a warning to Bashir, emphasizing the difficult conditions he will face in Australia. Broad highlighted the intensity of playing in venues such as The Gabba in Brisbane, where the Australian team is known for its ferocity. He noted that while Bashir’s home summer may not be too challenging, the Pakistan series could provide a tough test.

“I think he’s been selected with a keen eye for the Ashes and I don’t think England are making any excuses for looking ahead more than they have in the past. Bashir will probably not be tested in big numbers this summer under these conditions but it will be really interesting to see him play against Pakistan in Pakistan where they can play him badly in different places.” More on Sky Sports.

Preparing for the Australian challenge

Broad also elaborated on the challenges that await Bashir in Australia, especially at The Gabba. He emphasized that the Australian batsmen may come hard for Bashir, intending to attack him and confuse him. Broad stressed the importance of gaining experience in different situations around the world to prepare for the high-pressure moments that Test cricket will bring to Australia.

“If you go to Australia and come to the Gabba, the Aussies will come looking for you, they will attack you and try to knock you out. That’s where playing now, building experience and playing Test cricket in different conditions around the world prepares you for those big, high-pressure moments,” added Broad.

England have faced significant difficulties in Australia in their last three trips, with disappointing results of 5-0, 4-0, and 4-0. The team has not held the Ashes urn since 2015, making the upcoming series a crucial test for Bashir and his team.
