Harvey Elliott reveals the big difference between Arne Slot and Jurgen Klopp

Harvey Elliott has revealed that Liverpool will be a more self-sustaining team under new manager Arne Slot instead of the pressure outfit under Jurgen Klopp.

The former Feyenoord manager Slot took over from the departing Klopp earlier this summer and has enjoyed a fine pre-season campaign so far, most recently beating Premier League rivals Arsenal in the United States.

There has been a marked change in style for the Reds during the summer friendlies but Elliott – who provided two assists against the Gunners – says the change will take time despite positive early signs.

He told The Times: “It’s like holding the ball now. Managers have different styles of play and a player who has a style now has a style about possession and keeping the ball, two-touch and two-touch, but I won’t give away any details.

“We are learning different roles and I think it is important for us to find an understanding now and when we need to be in a certain position in every game and in certain situations; it will come but it is not something that will happen. at night.

“We have to keep training, keep working on it, keep training and we have complete faith in the gaffer, in what he says, what he wants us to do, and it’s up to all of us players now to go and do that on the pitch. the point.”

The 21-year-old made 53 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions last season, beating his tally of 46 from 2022/2023, albeit with just 11 Premier League starts.

“It’s a new beginning for everyone,” he added. “There’s no emotion, just excitement. We all want to go out and play and try this new style.

“I was there [the first team] five years and I feel like this is my time to move on and really achieve what I want to achieve. From the club’s point of view, with the trophies, you know we’re back in the Champions League now and it’s exciting. So we have to trust the manager, trust the organization and tactics and when we’re off the field, make sure we use it.”
