Terence Crawford defeated Israel Madrimov on points to become the world fourweight champion

TERENCE CRAWFORD is now a four-division world champion.

The 36-year-old left the ring at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles as the new WBA super-welterweight champion defeated Israel Madrimov on points (116-112, 115-113 twice).

In the matter of strategy neither man acted independently of the other in their abilities. After the long match of the night the main event was for the boxers but it lacked any real moments of drama to make it memorable.

With everything at arm’s length there have been small risks taken. In the eighth and ninth rounds Madrimov landed some eye-catching right hands that put him back in contention for the victory. It wasn’t until the final session that we watched Crawford’s offense click with punches coming together with combinations and brutal uppercuts finding a home.

Crawford dominated most of the fight with the former two-time undisputed champion now looking to move past this win and the 154lbs weight class to get a shot at Canelo Alvarez.
