However, according to a recent report by Sky Sports News reporter Lyall Thomas, Enzo Maresca could be beaten for the 23-year-old after Brighton stepped up and opened talks with Celtic over a summer transfer.

“Brighton are in talks with Celtic about Matt O’Riley’s contract,” store posted on their live streaming blog.

“They are among many clubs looking to sign a midfielder this summer.”

Although Gallagher’s move to Atletico Madrid is yet to be officially confirmed, with the 24-year-old heading to Spain for a medical, fans are expecting an announcement sooner rather than later.

As for O’Riley, who is clearly being courted by a number of top teams, Celtic will fear going into the SPL game in week two without the help of their number 33.

Scoring 19 goals and registering 18 assists in 49 games in all competitions last season, O’Riley’s contributions will go a long way.

The Danish midfielder, who was born in London in 2000, has three years left on his contract with the Hoops.
