Ambulance Chasers: Grayson Gone Again in Lat Teretaville

Hello, Razzball Fam!

Listen, the topic is extended this week, but I’m feeling happy these last days of summer.

You know who can feel happy? Many people whose names I will mention in this article. Fortunately, it was a very injury-free week, but there were a few updates towards the end.

Let’s go inside.

Significant Injury

AL Central

Joe Ryan (SP, MIN), teres: Ryan continues IL with a grade 2 teres major strain. He is expected to be out for weeks to months according to Rocco Baldelli. Ryan’s absence leaves the door open for fellow RHP David Festa. Festa has struggled with control issues early in the season, but in his last 14.3 IP he is throwing 13.8 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9. In his last 5 IP, he threw 9 K and 2 BB.

AL East

Grayson Rodriguez (SP, BAL), lat/teres: Here he is again. Rodriguez is back from IL and dealing with lat/teres discomfort. The news is developing, and Orioles GM Mike Elias will speak to the media today. That’s not a bad thing.

Anyway, it’s another week where I recommend Colin Rea instead. In 7 IP, Rea has 11.6 K/9 and 1.3 BB/9.

AL West

Luis Rengifo (INF/OF, LAA), arm: A season that got off to a strange start comes to an early end as Rengifo is out for wrist surgery. He is expected to return to training in the spring of 2025.

The Angels are in a very difficult situation after losing (Trout, Rengifo, Robert Stephenson) and never (Rendon) certain players. However, Rengifo’s absence enabled Michael Stefanic. Stefanic is miserable right now as he went 3-for-4 on Wednesday against the Yankees. Rengifo’s absence also opens up an opportunity for Angels No. 8 prospect Christian Moore, who is hitting the minors. In 31 AB, Moore has 17 H, 6 HR, and 13 RBIs.

NL West

Gabriel Moreno (C, ARI), hostage: Moreno will be out until the end of August or so with a strained left abductor. He is expected to return this season. Meanwhile, Jose Herrera will play in place of Moreno. Rookie Adrian Del Castillo was called up to play catch.

Joey Bart could be available to fill Moreno’s spot on your roster if needed. Bart is hitting .316/.381/.684 in his last 19 AB. He had 5 HRs and 16 RBIs in his last 66 AB.
