Frank Martin Moves to 140, De Los Santos Possible Next Opponent

Frank Martin may face slugger Edwin De Los Santos next. ‘The Ghost’ Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) says he’s moving up to 140, which makes sense for him, given how tired he looked in his last fight against ‘regular’ WBA lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis June 15. .

It would be dangerous for Martin to fight De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs) (16-2, 14 KOs) because he has the same strength as Tank Davis but is lightning fast with his hooks.

De Los Santos had Shakur Stevenson running for his life last November in their bout at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Shakur wanted no part of mixing it up with De Los Santos after being nailed with a hard left hand in the opening round.

De Los Santos knocked out Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela in the third round in September 2022. However, that was before ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela revamped his game, turning himself into a copy of Vasily Lomachenko with his smooth movement and defensive skills.

Martin said on social media, “It’s time to step up.”

Fighting at 140 will make it easier for the 29-year-old Martin to grow without killing himself as he has been fighting at 135. He looked like he was on death’s door, making weight with his fight with Tank Davis and Artem. Harutyunyan.

That might explain why he didn’t do very well in those two fights compared to how he looked in his previous fights. The fight at 140 will give Martin the opportunity to fight for the world title against the new WBA champion Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela. That would be easy for ‘The Ghost’ Martin.

Since Frank Martin looks like he spent months in Andersonville jail, you can’t give Tank Davis full credit for beating him up because he looked hungry and badly in need of calories. You don’t want to put the full blame for Martin’s loss on him being an emaciated skeleton, but it’s hard not to because he looked like he hadn’t eaten solid food in years.
