The PCB is in contact with Cricket Ireland about the matter, and a PCB official told ESPNcricinfo that it was ultimately the responsibility of the governing body to ensure that visas for the traveling team are supported and issued on time. Given the brevity of the tour – Pakistan play three T20Is in the country from May 10 to 14 – it puts Amir in doubt for the series.
As things stand, there is no word on the timeline for when his visa is expected. One member of the Pakistani administration – Mohammad Yousaf – also had his visa approved delayed, but managed to get it in time to travel with the rest of the team. It is not clear whether the delay in Amir’s visa is related to the timing of his application, although the PCB’s opinion is that it was applied at the same time as the rest of the team.
The Pakistan team is expected to arrive in Dublin on Wednesday morning, where all three matches will be played. Pakistan then travel to the UK, where they will play four T20Is before the World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
