Tottenham have announced the signing of Australian defender Clare Hunt
Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Australian defender Clare Hunt from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the north London club and will wear the number 15 shirt in the 2024/25 season.
Hunt began his career in his native country with Canberra United and progressed through the academy before making his debut in November 2016. He then joined A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers in September 2021.
In his second season with the club, he was named team captain and appeared in all but one of their games in the campaign. His performances, along with his place in the PFA A-League’s Team of the Season, earned him a call-up to Australia’s senior squad.
In September last year, he moved to Europe and joined French club PSG. He made 13 appearances for the club last season, helping them finish second in the league behind Lyon.
Hunt made his Australian national team debut in February 2023, and was named in their World Cup squad last summer. He played in seven of their games in the competition, which was at home, as the Matildas progressed to the semi-finals.
He becomes Robert Vilahamn’s official signing of the summer window after the permanent acquisition of Amanda Nilden, and the arrival of Araya Dennis and Ella Morris.
