Golf Business News – Club Car extends partnership with St Andrews Links Trust
Club Car, the world’s leading manufacturer of small-wheel, zero-emission electric vehicles, has extended its long-standing relationship with the world’s most famous golf course after delivering a new fleet to St Andrews Links.
The prestigious Scottish resort, where golf has been played for more than 600 years, has received 32 new golf carts and accessories to accompany the fleet of 52 people in the operation of its seven public courses, the most famous of which is the Old Course, the venue for 30 times of The Open.
John Grant, Director of Golf at St Andrews Links Trust, said: “We pride ourselves on working with the best, and since Club Car became official suppliers in 2016 they have provided the highest standard of car and service support. Cars are an important part of our operation, they allow our teams to do their job effectively and provide golfers with an enjoyable and memorable experience.”
Club Car’s innovative capabilities provide a range of benefits to the St Andrews Links team. While award-winning golf cars transport golfers safely and comfortably around the links, versatile utility vehicles are used by a team of course superintendents and media personnel, often transporting VIPs and equipment around the course.
A combination of 6 and 8 seater transporter models are also essential for transporting golfers between the Links Clubhouse and the Old Course tee box.
The cars are equipped with Club Car’s Connected technology, which enables teams to monitor fleet status, maintain course boundaries and communicate directly with the cars.
In addition, the Visage GPS system provides many enhancements to the golf experience including exact yards and fairways that allow safe negotiation of many features on these links courses.
Andy Bourke, Club Car Regional Manager for UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, said: “We have developed a strong relationship with St Andrews Links over the last eight years and it has been a pleasure to provide a first class service.
“It is the largest public golf course in Europe, and we are proud that our unmatched products and technology help the club deliver a unique and memorable experience to thousands of golfers each year.”
Established in 1974, the St Andrews Links Trust oversees the management and maintenance of the Links courses at St Andrews – the Old Course, the New Course, the Jubilee Course, the Eden Course, the Strathtyrum Course, the Balgove Course and Castle Course – played over 250,000 rounds. upon them every year.
