Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca gives the latest on Conor Gallagher
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has revealed that Conor Gallagher will not be present for the Blues’ Premier League opener against Man City on Sunday as the midfielder is still trying to move away from Stamford Bridge.
The Englishman was going to join Atletico Madrid this summer as everything was agreed between the two clubs but the collapse of Chelsea’s deal with Samu Omorodion has made the transfer to this club doubtful.
Gallagher was in Spain but had to return to London with his transfer in limbo.
The 24-year-old is training alone at the moment and it’s a very sad situation for the player to be in and it’s not a good thing for Chelsea.
The manager of the West London club was speaking to the media on Friday and has given an update on Gallagher.
“There is one injury which is Reece James, the others are all perfect,” said Maresca when asked about the health of his team before the Man City game on Sunday.
When asked if that included Gallagher, the Italian coach said via Sky Sports: “No, Conor is back. He is practicing this time separately (from the team). He did some medical tests and some training.
“He will not take part in this game (for Man City) because he is trying to find a solution with the team.”
