Leicester have agreed a fee ‘in excess of £20m’ for the Tottenham midfielder
Leicester City closes the season to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp, reports say.
The Foxes are strengthening their squad for their first season back in the Premier League following last season’s promotion, with the need for a midfielder increased by the £30m sale of Kieran Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea.
They have already welcomed four players on full contracts in Abdul Fatawu, Michael Golding, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Caleb Okoli, while Facundo Buonanotte has joined on loan.
David Ornstein of Athletic now reports that Skipp will be their sixth signing of the summer and will undergo a medical on Sunday.
Skipp’s move to Leicester could be confirmed before they play his current club Spurs on Monday night, although he will not be able to play as he missed the week one signing deadline.
Leicester will pay at least £20m to sign Skipp, who has been with Tottenham since 2008 and is one of their remaining home-grown players at the senior club.
The 23-year-old was used sparingly in pre-season and fell down Tottenham’s pecking order during the 2023/24 campaign, despite starting the season as a starter for Ange Postecoglou. By the end of Postecoglou’s first season in north London, Skipp was being used as a left wing back.
Skipp is set to reunite with fellow Tottenham academy graduate Harry Winks, who signed for Leicester last summer when James Maddison moved to the other side.
While Spurs enter their second season under Postecoglou, Leicester have also had to deal with change at the helm after manager Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea. He was replaced by Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper.
