Aus A vs India A – Priya Mishra’s five-wicket haul helps India to first win of Australian tour

India A 242 for 9 (Bist 53, Hasabnis 50, Brown 3-39) batting Australia A 72 (Mishra 5-14) for 172 runs

India A got their first win of their Australian tour, with a massive 171-run victory in their third one-dayer, in Mackay on Sunday. Legspinner Priya Mishra, making her tour debut, led the way with a five-wicket haul to bowl out Australia A for 72. Australia, however, won the series 2-1, and won the T20s 3-0.
Asked to bat first, India A posted 243 for 9 behind Tejal Hasabnis’50, Raghvi Bist’s 53 and useful contributions from Sajeevan Sajana and skipper Minnu Mani down the order. At 43 for 3, Hasabnis and Bist put on a crucial 104-run stand for the fourth wicket to lift India A to a competitive total. Both hit seven fours each in their innings. For Australia A, fast bowler Maitlan Brown hit three wickets while Nicola Hancock and offspinner Charli Knott claimed two wickets each.

Australia A’s chase got off to a rough start with fast bowler S Yashasri dismissing opener Knott for 11 off 12 balls in the fourth over. Captain Tahlia McGrath fell to Meghna Singh next as she chipped her stumps. Mishra then weaved a web around the batsmen to get them out within 100.

The 20-year-old picked up a wicket on his debut, bowling Maddy Darke for 22. From 48 for 2, Australia lost the next eight wickets for 24 runs in 23 overs with Mishra dismissing wicketkeeper Nicole Faltum, Tess Flintoff, Kate Peterson. and Hancock. Mishra returned figures of 5 for 14 in his five overs.

McGrath admitted that Mishra had tricks that Australia A were not ready for. “It’s not the way we wanted to end the white ball series,” he said after the game. “When we came in, we were talking about being clinical and we went 6-0, we were very disappointed with that. New wicket today, we thought it changed a bit for the spinners compared to the first two ODIs.

“India batted very well and at one point we were looking at the track of 300. So we are happy with the way we got them back, but yes, we didn’t come up with the bat. Don’t count anything. India, they bowled very well Quicks forward and that new leggie [Mishra] we had tactics that we may not have been ready for.”

Both the sides will meet for the last time in this unofficial Test tour from August 22.
