Eberechi Eze has been ruled out as a contender for the goal of the season
Crystal Palace will face Brentford on Sunday afternoon at the Gtech Stadium and there was controversy in the match as Eberechi Eze was withdrawn who claimed the goal of the season.
With just over 25 minutes remaining, the England international produced a stunning long-range free-kick past Mark Flekken in the Brentford goal. The strike was supposed to be on the goals list for the season at the end of the 2024/25 campaign but unfortunately it didn’t last.
Referee Samuel Barrott saw a foul by Will Hughes on Nathan Collins but the decision proved to be very difficult as both players were locked in a fight.
Sky Sports pundits labeled the call a “nightmare” as it appeared to be a poor situation for Eze.

Had the referee not blown the whistle before the ball went in, VAR would have reviewed the incident and overturned the decision, allowing the goal (and the shot) to stand.
Instead, VAR is powerless due to early whistles. Eze ends with 2
