Liverpool’s Bobby Clark has arrived in Austria to complete a medical before finalizing his move to RB Salzburg after the two clubs reached an agreement on the youngster’s transfer fee.
The Austrian outfit had a £10m bid accepted by the Reds last week, reports the BBC, with the deal containing a 17.5% sell-on clause. Former Liverpool managers Pep Lijnders and Vitor Matos are keen to work with the midfielder again as they have monitored his development in recent years.
Clark’s move to RB Salzburg is now close on Tuesday as the English talent arrives in Austria to complete his medical before finalizing the transfer, reports Sky Sports.
This is a big deal for Lijnders as there were several clubs interested in the 19-year-old’s services. According to DAVEOCKOP earlier this month, 12 Championship sides including Bristol City, Portsmouth, and Norwich have inquired about the Liverpool star.
However, the midfielder has chosen Salzburg which has given Lijnders and Matos that they are in the Austrian team, and also gives the young player the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League this season.
This is a big decision from Clark and a commendable one too, because he could have easily stayed in his country but wants to challenge himself abroad.

Liverpool’s decision to part with Clark this summer is surprising as last season he was the biggest midfielder at Anfield as he was one of a group of youngsters who helped Jurgen Klopp through a difficult period at the start of 2024.
The 19-year-old will feature in several Premier League games and was one of the young players who helped beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.
The upcoming campaign is huge for Clark’s development and with the midfielder having a strong relationship with Lijnders, it is believed that under the former Reds boss, the player can reach his full potential. Still, it’s still surprising to see the Merseyside club let him go.
