Clearlake’s first big signing sends a message
It’s been another turbulent transfer window for Chelsea, and with just over a week to go, it looks like the club could be in for another busy period.
Romelu Lukaku’s deal needs to be signed at Napoli before Victor Osimhen can make another move, while Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling all appear to have been told they need to find new clubs before the deadline.
The way Enzo Maresca deals with players who do not help him at all looks particularly dull, although his honesty should be applauded.
?? Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are now officially out of the Chelsea project as they have been training outside the first team.

At least those footballers who are not part of his plans were told in enough time to find another job.
From Sterling’s point of view, he has made it clear where he expects to be in 2024/25 and beyond.
According to a Sky Sports report, the first player who signed Clearlake Capital when he took over wants to continue in the Premier League.
Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling wants to stay in the Premier League
Whether there will be any players in England’s top flight will only be known at the end of the month, although much will depend on the prices Chelsea want for the player who is understood to be looking to win back his place in England.
The brutality with which Chelsea conduct their transfer business may not be particularly appealing to an outsider, and there are logical signs as to why there are 39 players in their first team (transfermarkt).
However, the Blues are still a work in progress for Clearlake, and their ownership model means there will continue to be tough decisions to make in the pursuit of success.
They just need Enzo Maresca to finally crack the code to have forgiveness in their ways.
