Chelsea’s summer signings reveal the club’s reaction to conveying uncertainty
Chelsea midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, has revealed that the club’s players are doing their best to ignore the speculation and uncertainty surrounding the club.
This summer has been another big change at Stamford Bridge, with the appointment of a new manager and ten new arrivals. The first-team squad has received more than 40 players, with Raheem Sterling and vice-captain Ben Chilwell among those told they could leave.
Manager Enzo Maresca admitted that up to 15 players, including Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga, are training away from the main squad while they await transfers. Chelsea have also come under fire for the way key home-grown players such as Conor Gallagher have been pushed out of the game due to the huge financial boom in selling them.
It remains unclear who will be at Stamford Bridge once the transfer window closes, with the Blues continuing to be linked with other potential signings.
“We’re struggling with it,” Dewsbury-Hall said of the current team’s handling of things.
“You can’t let something like that distract you. What we do is just go out every day and practice as much as we can, be ready for the games. Everything that happens outside is up to us. .Maybe when the transfer window is over, then we can focus more on the season.
Dewsbury-Hall was speaking ahead of Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League qualifying first leg against Swiss side Servette. It was far from a polished performance at Stamford Bridge, but a 2-0 win should go some way to easing the nerves of Maresca and the players involved.
