Lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson has signed up for Matchroom Boxing. “I’m ready to start this next chapter of my career and it starts on October 12 with Joe Cordina on the Riyadh Season card in Saudi Arabia,” Stevenson said in a press release. “I have made it clear that I want big names and big fights in sports. Bring William Zepeda to the top in 2025 and I’m ready for anyone brave enough to step into the ring with me. Few are willing to face this challenge in recent years.”
The undefeated, 22-0 Stevenson has been looking for great competition for years. Indeed, this man has two things against him. First of all he is a VERY good fighter. Stevenson is often accused of being a boring fighter, though. The man is not just an action-oriented athlete. And he’s not the most fun to watch, defensive legends like Floyd Mayweather or Pernell Whitaker. Still, no one in Stevenson’s weight class is considered the best outside of the Newark guy. Therefore, Stevenson is important to an advertising site like Matchroom.
