Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 – Darcie Brown ready for World Cup as Australia prepare to ‘unleash’ pace duo

The squad is mostly settled with 15, led by Alyssa Healy, which is an expected combination as Australia look to make it four T20 titles in a row.

“This is the first time in a long time that we have had a full list of contracts to choose from before the World Cup and it has led to a stable and balanced squad,” said national selector Shawn Flegler.

“It is the first time that Alyssa is in charge of the World Cup and we have seen what she and Tahlia will say in terms of leadership, so they are happy to have this opportunity to lead their country in the big stage.

“Pheobe is a real x-factor for us and will be supported by an experienced team in the first World Cup. The pace duo of Tayla and Darcie is one we have wanted to unleash for a long time and is a real point of difference between us.”

For Jonassen, who has been an integral part of Australia’s teams for the past 10 years, the door was closed as he forced his way back to the top during a season that included the Ashes series.

“Jess Jonassen has been unlucky to miss out yet again, but we’ve been impressed with how he’s come back, and we’ll continue to monitor his condition ahead of the summer at home,” Flegler said.

The team called for the World Cup will also play three T20Is against New Zealand next month as Heather Graham will not go to the UAE.
