Liverpool manager Arne Slot speaks to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s frustration
Liverpool manager Arne Slott brought on defender Trent Alexander-Arnold against Brentford, much to the England defender’s dismay.
The Reds have started their season with two wins from two games and Jurgen Klopp’s post season is off to a good start.
Liverpool beat Ipswich Town and Brentford in their first two games of the season.
Slot decided to take off defender Alexander-Arnold when they faced Brentford and that decision did not go down well with the English star.
The Liverpool boss had to explain his decision to the player by going to the bench, with Alexander-Arnold looking annoyed and showing his frustration.
Slot explained his decision after the game and revealed the reason for stripping his defender.
In his post-match interview, he said, as quoted by GOAL:
“I understand. Every player wants to play 90 minutes but I don’t think the players who were sitting on the bench from the beginning were happy with the decision I made.
“Trent is back in the national team, where at the beginning of the tournament he played a lot and ended up not playing. He was out for a few weeks, he came back and it’s only his third game and we have to take care of him. We need him for the whole season and not just the first two games. I’m glad I have a really good back-up with Conor too, which means we’re taking care of Trent, but he played a great game. “

The right-back has entered the final year of his contract with the club and the Reds must settle his contract quickly.
The Liverpool defender has been linked with Champions League winners Real Madrid.
However, he has no intention of leaving his youth club anytime soon and wants to continue his journey at the Merseyside club.
