There are similarities to previous years, as the 36 teams are divided into four pots based on their UEFA coefficient. However, the change in format means that teams will not be grouped. Instead, each team will be drawn with two opponents from each of the four pots to make eight divisional league opponents.
Each team will be drawn by hand, but their opponents will be generated by AI software that will also determine which games are played at home and away. Each team plays four games at home and four away.
Teams can be drawn against the top two teams from the same country and cannot face sides from the same UEFA member association in the league stage.
