Southampton have agreed a deal worth up to £25m for Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale
Southampton have agreed a £25m deal with Arsenal for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to reports.
The Gunners have been trying to find a solution for Ramsdale this summer after the England international lost his place to David Raya last season.
The 26-year-old has attracted interest from Wolves, who have loaned him money, while Dutch giants Ajax are also said to be interested, but it appears Ramsdale could yet find a new home.
Southampton agree to Ramsdale’s fee
Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas reported that Southampton have agreed a deal with the Gunners worth an initial £18m which could rise to £25m if there are add-ons.
Thomas added that negotiations are ongoing on other aspects of the deal, but it looks like it will be done.

Signing someone of Ramsdale’s caliber would be a huge challenge for Southampton as they return to the Premier League and the goalkeeper could be the difference maker for the club.
Saints have lost both their opening games 1-0 and will face them to stay in the league this season.
The move will give Ramsdale the chance to get his career back on track and play regular football which he hopes will improve his chances in England.
After two seasons as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, Ramsdale was replaced by Raya last season and made six Premier League appearances and 11 in all competitions.
The Englishman made 89 appearances for the Gunners during his time at the Emirates following a surprise move from Sheffield United.
It’s not yet clear whether there are release clauses in Ramsdale’s contract that would allow him to leave if Saints are relegated, but it’s hard to imagine there won’t be a clause in regards to being axed.
For Ramsdale there will be a sense of relief that his future is fixed and he can now focus on his football and doing everything possible to keep Southampton at the top.
