CPL 2024: Antigua & Barbuda Falcons best playing XI for Caribbean Premier League

2024 edition of Caribbean Premier League (CPL)hosted by Cricket West Indies (CWI), will mark the 12th installment of this premier T20 tournament. From August 29 to October 6, the tournament will feature six teams that will compete for nearly six weeks in a tough game of cricket. For the first time in a decade, Antigua will host CPL matches, joining other historic venues in Barbados, Guyana, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago. The final will be held at the National Stadium in Providence, Guyana.

Introducing the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons

This year he introduced the Antigua & Barbuda Falconsa new franchise that replaces the Jamaica Tallawahswhich were disbanded last year due to financial problems. Antigua was previously represented in the CPL by Antigua Hawksbillswho participated in the first two seasons before being replaced by St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2015. The return of the team from Antigua adds a new dynamic to the league.

Antigua’s opening clash and a star-studded line-up

The Falcons, led by the West Indies batsmen Brandon Kingwill make their debut in the CPL on Thursday (August 29, against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the opening match. The team has assembled a strong squad, including international stars such as Pakistan. Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim again Fakhar Zaman. They are joined by an Australian off spinner Chris Green and the rest of Afghanistan Azmatullah Omarzaiwhich adds depth and flexibility to the team.

Along with these international heavyweights, the Falcons have secured the services of West Indies’ Fabian Allen and a promising 17-year-old batter Jewel Andrewwho made a splash at the Under 19 World Cup earlier this year. The inclusion of both seasoned players and young talent demonstrates the Falcons’ commitment to balancing experience with emerging cricket prospects.

Antigua & Barbuda Falcons’ preferred playing XI for CPL 2024:

  • Brandon King – A solid opener known for his powerful strokeplay and innings-stopping ability.
  • Fakhar Zaman – An explosive opener on the left who can accelerate scoring from the start.
  • Imad Wasim – A reliable all-rounder with the option of left-arm spin and useful low-striking.
  • Jahmar Hamilton – Reliable wicketkeeper batsmen can sustain an innings when needed
  • Fabian Allen – A powerful all-rounder, who offers powerful hitting and effective left-arm spin.
  • Azmatullah Omarzai – Middle order batsmen who hit hard can’t even bowl medium pace.
  • Chris Green – A skilful off-spinner who is economical and can’t contribute with the bat lower down the order.
  • Roshon Primus – A spin bowler who has the ability to finish games with his batting and provide pace with the ball.
  • Justin Greaves – Average pace that can contribute with the bat and provide depth in the lower order.
  • Mohammad Amir – The spearhead of the bowling attack, known for his deadly left-arm pace and swing.
  • Hayden Walsh – A leg spinner with the ability to break ties and dominate the middle overs.
