The British Speedgolf Championships returns to Sunningdale Heath Golf Club on 15 September for its 10th year, with over 50 players battling it out for top speed and performance in one of UK golf’s most unique competitions.
For the first time, the R&A is supporting the championship winning fast, athletic golf format where the Speedgolf score is a combination of golf strokes and time.
The tournament also presents one of golf’s most inclusive events, with a field that includes PGA Professionals, men and women novices, and juniors.
British Speedgolf has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of this global sport and this year the tournament is featuring another first-time introduction to the dynamic golfers category. Scott Richardson made history in the sport in 2021 when he became the world’s first disabled golfer to compete in a national Speedgolf event, and this year he will be joined by two other versatile players.
In addition, those who will challenge for this year’s overall British Speedgolf Championship title will play 36 holes of Speedgolf on the same day, with the winner being decided by a combination of scores from two full rounds.
PGA Professional Luke Willett will defend his title in 2023, having already won National Speedgolf championships in the US, Finland, and most recently, Ireland. He will be challenged by three-time winner and former Speedgolf World Champion, Rob Hogan of Ireland, as well as competitors from France, Finland, Belgium, Sweden and the US.
