WATCH: Worst break ever? The ball hits the pin and bounces back into disaster

This is a throwback to Korean golfer SH Kim who had the worst break imaginable after his approach hit the flag.

Kim was playing his third shot on the PGA West Stadium Course in the second round of the American Express in La Quinta, California when his accuracy was brutally penalized.

After hitting the flag and putting, the ball bounced off the green.

It sits on the edge of the fairway just short of the putting area before it descends the famous hill on the left side of the course. It was going to end up in the box but the ball got stuck under the rack. Kim got some relief, but her fourth, fifth, and sixth lashes all ended up back in the basement.

He was able to find his seventh shot on the green and triple-bogey eight – double what he would have had his approach not cornered again.

SH Kim has two major influences.

The 25-year-old enjoys the economic swings of Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy.

“I really like the swing of Adam Scott and Rory McIlroy. However, lately, I’ve been really into Rory’s swing. He is good at shaping guns. “He can control almost any shot he draws in his mind,” Kim said.

“I don’t have a certain type of football that I consider to be better than me,” he explained. “Of course it depends on the situation, like being able to control the trajectory of the ball when I’m facing an uphill or downhill hole and shape shots when I see a dogleg left or right. Whenever I can hit a drive the way I drew it, that’s my best drive.

“I don’t think much about this, but with continued practice it has become a natural habit.”
