Tyson Barrie gets PTO

Pierre LeBrun: The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Tyson Barrie to a PTO. Barrie hopes he can turn that into a minor league deal.

Torey Krug is out for the season

Louis Blues: Defenseman Torey Krug will miss the entire 2024-25 season as he undergoes ankle surgery to address pre-arthritic changes. He was trying to fix it without surgery.

The Dobber: “It’s easy to think that Justin Faulk wins here, but Scott Perunovich’s breakout does too and this is a great opportunity for him. However, I will have to wait to see what training camp opens up with. The Blues didn’t do well last year, but their Powerplay improved a lot when Drew Bannister became head coach.”

TJ Oshie’s status should be known in two weeks

Sammi Silber of Hockey News: The status of Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie this season remains to be seen as the 37-year-old is dealing with chronic back pain.

Oshie said this offseason that if they can’t find a long-term fix, and their options are dwindling, he may have to leave hockey.

Capitals training camp starts in two weeks. Veteran training camp physicals begin on September 18th, so that will be a big day for Oshie.
