SCO vs AUS 2024, SCOT vs AUS 1st T20I Match Report, September 04, 2024

Australia won the toss and decided to bowl against In Scotland

Jake Fraser-McGurk has been handed his T20I debut as Australia start life behind David Warner but Nathan Ellis, the tour’s top paceman, has been ruled out of the opener against Scotland as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.
Scotland have fielded two new T20Is with Charlie Cassell, who took a world record 7 with 21 in his ODI debut, and Jasper Davidson named in the XI. Michael Jones played in Durham’s T20 Blast quarter-final against Surrey yesterday and will miss the series opener.

Mitchell Marsh won the toss and bowled in what was expected to be a high-scoring field for an inexperienced attack. Riley Meredith will play his first T20I since 2021 after replacing Josh Hazlewood on this leg of the tour.

“It’s an exciting week for everyone in Scottish cricket,” said captain Richie Berrington, adding that he, too, would have bowled first.

Meanwhile, Ellis was recovering from a left hamstring injury he suffered at Hundred. “The medical staff will continue to review his availability based on his progress at each stage of rehabilitation,” Cricket Australia said.

Josh Inglis replaced Matthew Wade as the T20I wicketkeeper and was listed to bat at No. 4 and Cameron Green who came in 7th place. It meant that Cooper Connolly would have to wait for his first game.
