BBL news – Matthew Mott joins Sydney Sixers as assistant coach following England’s exit
Mott, who was in charge of Australia Women for eight years before switching to England, will join Greg Shipperd at the Sixers to replace Cameron White, who was appointed head coach of the Melbourne Renegades earlier this year.
“I’m excited to join the Sydney Sixers,” said Mott. “Having started my coaching journey in Sydney many years ago, it is a place that evokes fond memories and a comforting sense of familiarity, which I look forward to.
“The idea of being an assistant to Greg Shipperd, who I have a lot of respect for, is very interesting to me.”
Mott’s successful start as England white-ball coach when they won the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, combining both white-ball trophies, ended after a poor performance in the finals of the tournament earlier this year. ODI schedule in 2023.
“We are very excited about Motty’s commitment over the next three years with the team,” said Haynes, the Sixers’ general manager.
“It goes without saying that his coaching career speaks for itself. He has an incredible track record of success around the world, and has proven that he knows what it takes to build, and sustain, a successful culture.
“Our team is in safe hands under the leadership of Greg Shipperd, and Charlotte Edwards in our women’s program, and we’re excited to be able to add Motty’s experience to that team, moving us forward.”
